Since its establishment, the paper mill has been focused on producing its own energy, using the hydraulic power from the nearby Naviglio canal; subsequently, as the power requirements grew higher, first a steam turbine and in the 1990s a gas turbine were installed to further its independence from the electricity grid. The current CHP (Combined Heat and Power) plant installed in the mill produces the low pressure steam used for the continuous lines, the electricity to run the whole factory and about 1000 KW/h of surplus electricity which is resold on the market.
