Water treatment

vasche impianto trattamento biologicoNot everybody knows that the most important raw material for papermaking is water; this is why paper mills have always been close to water sources like rivers or lakes.
The paper mill draws water from the nearby Gesso creek, and runs it through a first treatment; afterwards, by means of its sophisticated reuse and recycling systems and the final purifying plant – made of multiple physical, chemical, biological treatment stages – reintroduces pure water into the creek it came from.

The cutting-edge water treatment technologies allow the plant to comply with the european regulations with regard to quality and quantity of its byproducts. The Pirinoli paper mill needs less than 10 litres of water to produce 1 kg of cartonboard and recycles more than 95% of the water it needs for the whole production.
